« Language and Matter: Computational Media Technologies from Latin America »

*(Séance en anglais et exceptionnellement de 16 h à 18 h)

Abstract

The presentation explores the emergence of technologies in Latin America that generate images, sounds, video games, and physical interactions. It aims to contribute to a historiographical and theoretical framework for understanding the work of creators who have been geographically and historically marginalized. Through the study of relatively unknown artifacts such as personal computers, programming languages or electronic prototyping platforms, the presentation offers a comprehensive and detailed view of the complex and often unlikely conditions under which technological invention occurs and the problematic logics that can lead to these innovations being devalued as historically insignificant.
